Offer Canvas Prints to Sell More Photographs at Art Shows and Craft Fairs

If you sell your photographs at art shows and craft fairs, you know that buyers like a variety of prints to choose from. They also appreciate a variety of sizes and styles. You can add to the selection by offering canvas prints in addition to framed prints.

Gallery-wrapped canvas prints are a classic and professional way of presenting your work. Canvas prints are extremely popular for home decorating right now, so even if you don’t offer them at your show or your booth, your customers will probably ask for them.

Customers will love that canvas prints are beautiful, ready-to-hang works of art that don’t require framing. They can be purchased and hung at home on the same day.

Printing technology allows for richly colored, fade-resistant ink that is both eye-catching and stable. The durable canvas is wrapped tightly around wooden stretcher bars, just like a traditional painting, giving the photograph a museum-quality appearance. Also, unlike framed prints, canvas prints are non-reflective, they will not reflect a glare from lights or the sun when viewed from certain angles.

Canvas prints are easier to handle as well. They can stand up to customers handling them as they browse your inventory without any additional protective layers to prevent damage, like paper prints.

You can have canvas prints made in a variety of sizes, from mini to extra large; which widens your market and opens you up to selling more at your show or fair. As long as you’re able to keep the proportions true, offering a variety of sizes should be beneficial to your sales. While you see your work as creative expression, your customers also see it as decoration that has to fit a particular space. By offering the same image in different size, you’re more likely to hit on all the different placement requirements your customers have.

The advantage of offering canvas prints in a variety of sizes over paper prints is that you don’t have to have them framed. Finding a frame for an unusually sized print is almost impossible, which means you’ll need custom frames. This adds to your costs, and if you choose a frame that isn’t popular with your customers, you’re stuck covering the expense.

Conversely, gallery-wrapped canvas prints are ready-to-hang. There are no extra steps to prepare the canvas print for installation. Paper prints need to be matted and framed, unless you and your customer have the same taste in frames and you’ve done the work ahead of time. Whether you sell your paper prints matted and framed, or you leave it to the customer to frame their paper print later, it is still more cost and time spent to complete the product for either party. However, with canvas prints, the customer does not have to think down the road when making the purchase. They don’t have to dread spending extra money and time in order to frame the print they just purchased. A gallery-wrapped canvas print is ready-to-hang when you hand it over to the customer.
