Show Stopping Design for Trade Show Booths
Monday, November 10, 2014

Everyone at a trade show has at least one similar goal: to win over attention. Some booths do this better than others—but why? What is it about some booths that grab your attention, when others either don't register or can’t hold your gaze?

The best booths balance bold design with a straightforward message. Here are some tips to get you started on a show-stopping booth:

Identify Yourself

Make it easy for anyone at the event to see the name and logo of your company. Put identifying markers at ideal eye level, front and center so it’s the first and most memorable thing event-goers see.

Repeat your name and logo often, and make sure it’s on all of your marketing collateral.

Tell Us What you Do

Look at your design objectively and see if you can tell what your company does. Is it easy to discern in a glance? How about in 30 seconds? If it’s hard to tell, you may want to reevaluate your design. Add a tagline or a short, simple statement about your business near your logo or name.

Why Should they Stop at Your Booth?

What can event-goers gain by stopping in to see what your company has to offer? Demonstrate how your company is different and what makes you stand out. How will your product or service help them? Can you improve their performance? Can you add to their bottom line? Can you help with efficiency? Whatever it is, make sure it’s very clear. If event-goers have to guess, they’ll probably move on before they discover the answer.

Imagery

The best booths have clear, impactful imagery—but not too much. Don’t let your message get lost in too much information, even visual information. Choose your best imagery and highlight it. Have it professional printed so that it looks great from a distance and up close.

Text

When it comes to messages, less is often more. This is especially true when you’re going big. Imagine a billboard: taglines work, paragraphs don’t. Save your longer message for the brochure or your web site, the information they’ll absorb later.
