How Does UV Printing Differ from Conventional Printing Methods?

UV printing is one example of how the printing industry has embraced new technology that allows for unique marketing materials to be created. Using the UV process, we can print on non-traditional substrates such as plastic and wood veneer, freeing your company designers from the medium of paper.

UV printing differs from conventional printing methods in the chemical formula of the ink and the drying process. When UV ink is exposed to ultraviolet light, it solidifies very quickly and adheres to the medium without much saturation, even on porous surfaces.

The UV printing process provides highly saturated color on unusual printing surfaces with fewer solvents evaporating into the atmosphere. No matter what material you’re printing on, when UV inks are exposed to ultraviolet light the photomechanical process produces very little evaporation of VOCs (volatile organic compounds), which is a more environmentally responsible choice.

Some advantages of UV printing include:
• It’s environmentally preferable because there are little or no VOC (volatile organic compounds) released into the atmosphere during the drying process, creating a safer work environment.
• You have a wider range of substrates to choose from. Print on plastic, paper, metal, wood veneer, and more.
• It’s fast and energy efficient.
